SHREYA GHOSHAL

Shreya Ghoshal, born on 12 March 1984 in Murshidabad, West Bengal, is the most acclaimed playback singer in contemporary Bollywood. She shot to national fame after winning the television singing competition Sa Re Ga Ma Pa at the age of 16, catching the attention of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Bhansali cast her to sing for Devdas (2002), where her rendition of Bairi Piya captivated India. She went on to become the defining voice of a generation of Bollywood films — from romantic ballads to classical-fusion pieces to peppy dance numbers.

With 4 National Film Awards, 7 Filmfare Awards and thousands of songs across multiple languages, Shreya Ghoshal is one of the most decorated musicians in Indian cinema history. She married childhood friend Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya in 2015 and the couple have a son, Devyaan.
