I went to Zen Bowl for lunch to try their food, as I had heard they serve both South Indian and Chinese dishes. My visit was good overall, though not everything was perfect. When I reached the restaurant, the staff greeted me in a polite way. The place looked clean and comfortable. The menu has many choices, so it is nice if you are going with friends or family who like different types of food. To start my meal, I ordered a dosa and medu vada. The dosa was crispy and light brown, with a potato filling inside. It was fresh and not very oily. The medu vada was soft and warm, but a little heavy. They served both items with coconut chutney and sambar. The chutney tasted fresh and the sambar was mild. I liked these dishes, but they were not as tasty as what you get in a pure South Indian restaurant. Still, it was good enough for a mixed menu place. After that, I tried their Chinese food. I ordered vegetable fried rice, Manchurian gravy, and chicken fried rice. The vegetable fried rice had good flavor and plenty of fresh vegetables. It was not too oily, which I liked. The Manchurian was my favorite dish. The sauce was tasty, with a little sweetness and spice, and the vegetable balls were crispy on the outside. The chicken fried rice was also nice, with soft rice and pieces of chicken. The chicken could have had a little more flavor, but it was still enjoyable. One thing I liked about Zen Bowl is that they have food for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. This makes it easy if you are eating with people who have different food choices. The portions were big enough, and the prices were fair. You get good value for your money here. The service was friendly, but it was a bit slow. Even though the restaurant was not very crowded, I waited about 10–15 minutes for my food to arrive. The staff were polite and helpful once the food came, but faster service would have made the experience better. The overall atmosphere was nice. It is a simple place where you can sit comfortably and have a relaxed meal. If you want a fancy restaurant, this may not be the right spot. But if you just want good food at a fair price, Zen Bowl is a decent choice. I am giving Zen Bowl three stars because the food was fresh and tasty, but nothing was very special or unique. Some dishes were better than others. The Chinese items were definitely the best part of the meal.
