One of the best places for authentic Maharashtrian cuisine with exceptional flavors. We tried the thali, thalipeeth, vada pav, and kurma puri, and every dish was perfectly preparedโwell-balanced, flavorful, and needing nothing extra. Itโs easy to see why this place is already so popular in Dadar. The only drawback is the compact seating arrangement. Also, be prepared for a waiting time of around 15โ30 minutes during peak hours or on busy days.

One of the best places for pure vegetarian food. This place is easily accessible as it is located right on the main road near Sena Bhavan. You can get down at Dadar Metro Station, and as soon as you come onto the main road, the restaurant is right beside it. Whenever you visit, you will almost always find a rush here. The waiting time can range from 30 minutes to even 1 hour. However, they have now expanded their seating capacity, and there is also a lift available to reach the first floor. The place is also very reasonably priced. We were a group of four friends and ordered around 7โ8 items, yet the total bill was only around โน1200. You will find a wide variety of Maharashtrian dishes here, and they have also started serving some South Indian snacks. Must try: Modak, Aamras, and Misal Pav You can also try the Batata Vada. Overall, it is a great place for pure vegetarian food and definitely worth visiting with friends and family.

Prepared for a long wait, we were pleasantly surprised to find a table for two upon arrival. Being a week day may have also impacted numbers & wait times which otherwise apparently is a lot. After a thorough scrutiny of the menu, we ordered pithla bhakri and a chaitra thali. Pithla bhakri plate comes with two types of bhakris, rice & jowari. The chaitra thali actually is good for two people which we realised when it arrived. Special mention of the jackfruit bhaaji, kajuchi usal and fresh unadulterated aamras with its natural sweetness & taste. The panah was too thick & sweet for my taste. Missed taking a pic of the thali. My friend ordered puranpoli ice-cream for dessert & relished it. Again that is a huge portion with three scoops, too much for one person. See the pic :) Definitely worth a visit to savour Maharashtrian cuisine in an iconic old eatery. P.S. Five minutes walk from Dadar Aqualine metro station.

Visited Aaswad Uphar Gruh & Mithai recently and had a proper Maharashtrian เคญเฅเคเคจ experience. We tried a variety of items including Puri Bhaji, Seasonal Thali, Puran Poli, Lime Juice, Buttermilk, Kothimbir Vadi, and other traditional dishes. The food overall had that authentic, homely Maharashtrian taste which Aaswad is known for. ๐ Taste: Most dishes were flavorful and well-prepared. The Puran Poli stood out โ soft, perfectly sweet, and very satisfying. The Kothimbir Vadi was crispy and nicely spiced. The Seasonal Thali gave a good variety and felt wholesome. ๐ Quantity & Quality: Portion sizes are decent, and ingredients taste fresh. It gives a proper โghar jaisa khaanaโ vibe. ๐ Service & Waiting Time: Had to wait around 40 minutes, which is quite long. The place gets very crowded, especially during peak hours. ๐ Ambience: Simple, traditional setup. Nothing fancy, but clean and functional. Seating can feel a bit cramped during rush hours.

The best place to try authentic Maharashtrian food! The Misal Pav was amazing, and the Kothimbir Vadi was delicious. We also tried the Pola Usal, which was a real highlight. You must end your meal with the Piyush -it's so refreshing! Highly recommended, but be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes in the queue. It's worth it.
