Mahesh Bhatt, born 20 September 1948 in Bombay, is a veteran filmmaker whose career spans directing emotionally raw dramas and producing some of Bollywood's biggest commercial hits.
A lifelong Mumbaikar, Bhatt founded Vishesh Films in the city, which has produced and directed dozens of successful films over the decades.
His acclaimed directorial work includes Arth and Saaransh, while as a producer he has backed major franchises like the Murder and Raaz series, and is father to actresses Pooja Bhatt and Alia Bhatt.
