Finally got a chance to try Ram Ashraya, and it definitely lives up to its reputation in many ways. The food is simple, authentic, and clearly focused on getting the basics right rather than trying to be fancy. The dosa was crisp, the chutneys were fresh, and the filter coffee was excellent. What I appreciated most was the consistency and old school charm of the place. It feels like a restaurant that has stayed true to its roots despite its popularity. That said, the hype does set very high expectations. While the food is genuinely good, a few dishes felt more comforting than extraordinary. The place can also get quite crowded, which is understandable given its popularity. I'd happily visit again for a satisfying South Indian meal. Not perfect, but definitely an institution worth experiencing, especially if you're in Matunga.

One can’t go wrong with Ram Ashraya. The queue outside says it all! The food is absolutely mouthwateringly good, and every single dish is delicious, certainly worth the wait. You are also free to share a table with others. A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic comfort food.
