My insurance claim was rejected, and I had completely lost the hope. We had taken policy for mother in 2020 and shared all known...

We had taken policy for mother in 2020 and shared all known details to insurance company. We also paid renewal premiums for 4 years without any claim. In 2024 when mother was diagnosed for breast cancer, the cashless claim was processed in time. However when my mother had to be admitted again due to severe infection as a side effect of oral chemotherapy medicine effect, that time too the insurance company approved for cashless treatment. However since medical treatment stretched over 4 weeks and the bill reached around 4.2 lakhs all of a sudden , the insurance company first started giving some excuses to approve the final bill and finally in a shocking manner we were told that since we had not shared details of some old existing ailment while buying policy we were falsely blamed of "NON DISCLOSURE OF MATERIAL FACTS" and on that basis not only our cashless claim of 4.2 lakhs was rejected ,even our policy was abruptly terminated . Whatever event the insurance company was using to blame us for non-disclosure , we soon found that the referred event was not at all an existing chronic ailment but a one time event due to blood loss during an operation. So we shared all related documents and even got medical certificate from the related doctor related to the old one time event proving that there was no existing chronic ailment . Despite providing all medical evidences and trying to communicate with the claims teams if the insurance company, we were constantly given the same excuse and there was no one available from insurance company with whom we could directly talk to. This bad treatment was given to us despite having given all required medical evidences and also having sufficient Insurance cover balance including No Claim Bonus amounts of 3 years. So we had to finally arrange for the large amount of final bill and also take some NBFC loan to get discharge for our mother . We even later tried hard for Reimbursement claim but all in vain. It is in such situation that we were referred to Bima Seva Kendra . We shared all our records and they were convinced that the insurance company has done injustice to us. They helped us in raising the Complaint with the Insurance Ombudsman (Bima Lokpal) right from filling the application form and related documents, submitting all medical records to the Lokpal to support our case and at the same time they guided us very well in ensuring that we raised the appropriate Grievances with the various levels of Grievance Redressal Escalation matrix of the insurance company. As a result of the timely help in handling complaint with Insurance Ombudsman and also simultaneously helping us raise grievances at all required levels with the insurance company, finally the Lokpal gave the judgement in our favour and ordered the insurance company to repay the claim amount with some relevant deductions. For us getting the claim refund was not the main issue since our mother's s health was important. The main point was that the insurance company had put a false blame on us of hiding some important information to get the policy cover and when the Lokpal gave the judgement in our favour it was a moral victory for us and we sincerely thank the Bima Seva Kendra for this. The Bima Seva Kendra services are a big source of hope or a ray of light for all common people like us who trust and invest in the insurance companies to take care of our beloved ones , but all of a sudden have to face such shocking bad treatment and financially and mentally embarassing situations when such insurance companies find some fake excuses for rejecting claims and also abruptly terminating the policy coverage that to for senior citizens and not keeping open any channel for proper communication or seeking satisfactory clarification as to why our claim was rejected and policy was terminated.
