My overall experience during my wife’s hospitalization was very disappointing. On the day of discharge, we were made to wait the entire day for the chest physician’s review, as discharge was dependent on his clearance. Although we were informed he would visit earlier, he arrived only around 4 PM after we had been waiting since morning. During the consultation, he mentioned that the CT scan done was of the abdomen and not of the chest, which created further confusion and concern for us. As attendants, we rely on the treating team to guide the correct investigations. Hearing this at the time of discharge was unsettling. There was no proper physical examination during the visit. When I asked basic questions to understand her condition and the reason for fluid accumulation, I was told I was “cross questioning” and could consult another doctor. My wife was eventually discharged without a clear confirmation of the final treatment plan from the reviewing specialist, and we were later informed that another chest physician consultation would be arranged after 10 days. I also sent a detailed email to the hospital management regarding these concerns, but have not received any response. It felt that unless we continuously followed up and pushed for updates, processes did not move smoothly, which added significant mental stress during an already difficult time. That said, I sincerely appreciate the senior nursing staff. They were polite, proactive, and supportive throughout. They are truly the backbone of the hospital.
