We got the Ghee podi Masala Dosa.I've definitely had crispier dosa, but the potato masala was on point and the quantity of the masala was also good. The mangalore buns felt undercooked and doughy from the inside. We pointed this out to the cashier, who, after a lot of back and forth asked the chef to prepare fresh ones for us. We did want the replacement but they were kind enough to insist and give it to us in a takeaway box. The goli bhajji tasted perfect, just like the ones we had in Mangalore. The best thing we had here was the filter coffee soft serve. The coffee taste and the sweetness were balanced perfectly as per our liking.

Located in Nahur, this South Indian breakfast place is one of the new outlets riding a wave of popularising idli and dosas in the city! The place is pretty small and people have to have their food while standing. Good thing is their kitchen is visible so we know what goes behind the scenes! The staff is pretty quick with the orders and friendly, the turn around time is actually good since it's a small outlet while in the kitchen it's very well organized like a smooth oiled machine. Coming over to the food, I have tried 1) Mangalore Buns: This is a rarity in Mumbai and glad they have kept it. The buns are freshly made and they are crisp from outside and soft from inside. They just have to make sure its fried at the right temperature as at times the outer layer gets blacked out. 2) Benne dosa: Crisp form outside and soft from inside but they lack the thickness which is required. The amount of ghee added feels a bit more but unlike one popular chain known for it! They can try making it more thicker. 3) Goli Bhajji: Another of my favorites, crisp golden on outside but they left it a bit chewy inside. Would be better to add a bit of dry coconut piece to enhance the taste. 4) Thatte idli: Idli is actually good here with it being soft and smooth 5) Masala Podi dosa: The masala dosa was pretty different from what you usually get in Mumbai. It's not the paper dosa but also not like the Benne dosa. Overall it was amazing and the potato palya was tasty! 6) Filter Coffee: The filter coffee tastes good here whereas I also tried the cold filter coffee but it wasn't that fun! 7) Coconut chutney and Sambhar: Coconut chutney is good over here and freshly made, same for sambhar but unfortunately I didn't find the consistency across my 3 visits for the sambar. During the first two visits the sambhar was actually tasty and the recent visit, it turned watery and more spicy... More like the Tamil Nadu style over Karnataka style! Overall it's a good place for breakfast and no need to head all the way to Bandra or fancy places to try out expensive dosas as here they serve for an affordable price.

Absolutely loved everything we tried! The chai served in a kulhad had that perfect earthy touch and felt super comforting. The pineapple sheera was beautifully balanced, sweet, fruity, and delicious. The goli bajje were soft, fluffy, and perfectly fried. The bisi bele bhath was flavourful, comforting, and tasted just like home. And the filter coffee ice cream was the perfect ending, rich, creamy, and packed with authentic coffee flavour. Everything tasted excellent. Definitely a place worth coming back to!
Mangalore Tiffin Room โ A Hidden South Indian Gem in Mulund...
Mangalore Tiffin Room โ A Hidden South Indian Gem in Mulund ๐ Discovered through the ever-reliable Instagram algorithm, Mangalore Tiffin Room turned out to be one suggestion that truly lived up to the hype. For lovers of authentic South Indian flavors, this small outlet is definitely a hidden gem worth exploring. Ambience & Setup Donโt expect a traditional dine-in experience here. The outlet has no formal seating, but they provide a few side tables where you can comfortably enjoy your food while standing. Itโs a small, fast-food style joint with a minimalistic look, capable of accommodating around 15โ20 people at a time. Simple setup, but the focus here is clearly on the food. What We Tried Benne Masala Dosa Simple yet packed with flavor. The dosa had a nice buttery aroma and delivered a satisfying, classic South Indian taste. Vada Sambar Dip A straightforward dish with two average-sized Medu Vadas served in sambar. It was decent, though nothing extraordinary. Ghee Podi Thatte Idli This one was a pleasant surprise! Soft, fluffy thatte idlis coated with ghee and podi masala created a beautiful balance of simplicity and flavor. Bun Parotta with Kurma Two perfectly cooked Kerala-style Bun Parottas that were flaky and flavorful. While the parotta itself was excellent, the kurma gravy felt a bit underwhelming. Filter Kaapi Ice Cream โญ The unexpected star of the visit. Unique, refreshing, and bursting with coffee flavorโdefinitely something you shouldnโt miss. Overall Verdict Almost everything on the menu is priced under โน140, making it fairly pocket-friendly. While a few dishes could improve, the overall experience is satisfyingโespecially for those craving authentic South Indian comfort food. If youโre around Mulund, Mangalore Tiffin Room is a great spot to explore for simple, flavorful, and affordable South Indian bites. #SouthIndianFood #MulundEats #HiddenGemsMumbai #FoodieFinds #DosaLove #FilterCoffee #StreetFoodDiaries
