Don't think of this as a blessing in disguise. I had a horrific experience even trying to apply for admission into the hostel. I had requested stay for just 2 months for my summer internship and was asked to fill up a 9 page application form. If you don't have a local guardian in Mumbai, they won't admit you in. They physically want to interview you and your parents for admission. If your parents are old and not able to make it in person for the interview, they reject your application. No transparent reason will be given for the rejection. For anybody travelling from other states, there is no consideration of an online interview or interview in person(without parents). For admission into a hostel, they need your entire family history: parents' aadhaar, their pan cards, your loan documents(if any), your marksheets, your college fee receipts, cancelled cheques. Not sure if they are admitting into a hostel or giving us a job at NASA.
