I usually donโt write reviews, but this experience compelled me to share the reality. I chose Alam based on his high Google ratings. Now I understand how he has so many 5-star reviews, he strongly pushes customers to rate him immediately after the job. I told him Iโd review later, as I normally donโt write reviews. I called him for AC cleaning and installation. After completing the work, he claimed there was no gas in the AC and insisted on a refill. This was surprising because I had recently uninstalled the AC through Urban Company, and their technician clearly confirmed there was no leakage and everything was fine. I even called that technician again, and he said the same, it was unlikely that gas would be empty. However, I had limited options at that moment, so I agreed. Alam charged a premium price for the gas refill, higher than market rates. He didnโt perform proper vacuuming or standard procedures, just refilled the gas and assured me that if there was any leakage, he would fix it for free. Within a few days, the AC stopped cooling. When I called him again, he checked and claimed there was a compressor valve leakage and said it needed replacement along with another gas refill, again at my cost. When I reminded him of his earlier assurance, he denied responsibility, saying the issue was unrelated to his work. At this point, I felt something was off. I declined and booked Urban Company the next day. Their technicians spent nearly 2 hours inspecting thoroughly using proper tools and found no leakage at all. They did notice some oil around the outer valve (which Alam had handled), but confirmed there was no issue inside the compressor. They even questioned how anyone could diagnose a compressor issue without opening it. They then performed proper vacuuming before refilling the gas and completed the job as per standard procedure. They also provided a 3-month warranty. When I confronted Alam, he refused to take responsibility and said if I was using another service, it was no longer his concern. Itโs been over two week now, and my AC is working perfectly. This clearly indicates there was no actual issue with the AC. The earlier problem may have been due to improper installation or incomplete work. This experience taught me that individual service providers can avoid accountability very easily. Despite similar or even higher charges than Urban Company, there was no guarantee or responsibility from his side, whereas Urban Company provided proper service with warranty. I trusted the 5-star rating, but it turned out to be a costly lesson.
