New to here, came here with my father knowing it has been there since 1940. Had butter podi idli, benne dosa (both were good). Also went for madras Dahi misal, it is more of madras mixture(kerala) in Sambhar with dahi on top (mixture taste was more dominant). Rasam vada it was ๐๐ปMost of these were on specials. For others note there is no AC, it's just fans. There is no provision for washroom, only handwash provision is available. Moreover overall it's located in a nice area & would love to try out other items in my next visit. Thanks @Madras Cafe โค๏ธโค๏ธ

Awesome experience! Everything was great, especially the Benne Dosa and Butter Idli โ absolutely the best. Fresh butter makes the taste even better, and the Nimbu Pani was refreshing too. Best to visit in a group of 4โ5 for easier seating; smaller groups may have to share tables during rush hours.

As expected from such an old and iconic restaurant, the place carries a beautiful old-world charm. The crowd was immense, and we had to wait nearly 30โ45 minutes for a table. Seating is shared with other guests, which adds to the authentic traditional dining experience. What truly stood out was the remarkably quick and efficient service despite the rush. We ordered dosa and filter coffee โ the dosa was absolutely delicious, especially with the generous layer of fresh white butter that elevated the taste beautifully. The filter coffee was equally excellent and perfectly satisfying. The restaurant is quite pocket-friendly, and the staff deserves appreciation for being extremely prompt, supportive, and well-managed amidst the heavy crowd. The only downside is the waiting time and constant rush; otherwise, everything about the experience was wonderful.

Cafe Madras is one of the most iconic South Indian restaurants in Mumbai and truly lives up to its reputation. Located in the heart of Matunga, this place is famous for serving authentic and delicious South Indian food with consistent quality for decades. The moment you enter, the aroma of fresh filter coffee, ghee, and spices creates a warm and nostalgic feeling. I tried their famous dosa and idli, and both were excellent. The dosa was perfectly crispy with a flavorful potato filling, while the idli was soft, fresh, and served with tasty chutneys and sambhar. Their filter coffee was another highlight โ strong, aromatic, and refreshing. Despite being crowded most of the time, the service is quick and efficient, which is impressive. The restaurant maintains cleanliness and has a simple yet traditional atmosphere that adds to the experience. Prices are also reasonable considering the quality and popularity of the food. Overall, Cafe Madras is a must-visit place for anyone who loves authentic South Indian cuisine. It perfectly combines taste, tradition, and quality, making every visit memorable.

This place has been serving authentic South India food for decades. Small no frills place where you have to share tables with strangers if needed. I tried the rasam vada and filter kaapi. Incredible taste and very homely service. The prices are extremely reasonable and you can be assured of a very satisfying meal.
