I visited Nayanshakti Vision Eye Hospital (an ASG Enterprise) at Juhu with my mother to seek a second opinion regarding her ongoing eye treatment, largely because of the hospital's strong reputation. Unfortunately, our experience with Dr. Himanshu Mehta was disappointing. During the consultation, he greeted my mother by patting/touching her and asking how she was feeling. While this may have been intended as a friendly gesture, it made us uncomfortable and appeared unprofessional from our perspective. Further, the consultation was primarily regarding her left eye, and we had already carried a recent OCT report for that eye. However, we were informed that if we wanted his opinion, we would need to follow his instructions and undergo fresh OCT scans for both eyes. We felt that the necessity for additional testing was not adequately explained, which created an impression that unnecessary investigations were being recommended. A second-opinion consultation should ideally involve a clear review of existing reports, transparent communication regarding the need for any additional tests, and respect for the patient's concerns. Unfortunately, we did not leave with that experience. Based on our interaction, we were dissatisfied with the consultation and expected a more patient-centric and professional approach.

I had a wonderful experience with my eye surgery at ASG The Vission eye center. The entire procedure was completely painless, and my recovery has been smooth with excellent healing. Dr. Himanshu Mehta is simply, SECOND TO NONE. Compassion is holy. It is rightly believed that providing relief to a suffering being is the greatest karma. Dr. Himanshu Mehta, beyond his unparalleled stature of India's grandmaster of ophthalmology, is blessed with an extremely compassionate heart. A healer of immense depth, he has the unique ability of touching a chord, deep within the hearts of his patients. Dr. Mehta provided my 70 year-old father with incredibly sharp vision following a highly successful cataract surgery at his avant-garde The Vission Eye Center in Juhu, Mumbai. Never before has my father been able to read the minutest of text even in dull light. The surgery has been an exceptional game changer for him and has infused new light and color in his life! Dr. Mehta is renowned for successfully handling even the most challenging and complex of cases which other ophthalmologists usually give up on. Dr. Mehta conducted a thoroughly detailed eye examination and vision check after which he patched my eye meticulously, providing ample comfort and super- speedy healing, not to mention, his ever-cheerful, reassuring words that comforted my distraught heart instantly. A proud alumnus of Mumbai's revered GS Medical College-KEM Hospital, among the world's finest Medical institutions, Dr. Mehta, with no godfather or mentorship, has led a life of struggle and perseverance to reach unsurpassed heights in his field of expertise. With a superbly trained, highly efficient and empathetic staff (NO exceptions) at his clinic, it's positive, cheery and comforting atmosphere (can't resist the soothing lemongrass aromas permeating the space!), it's state-of-the art equipment and of course, Dr. Mehta's effusive ,charismatic and compassionate persona, one feels truly comforted, healed and overwhelmed with gratitude. Dr. Himanshu Mehta reminds me of a line from an old Gujarati poem- "Shanti Pamaade tene Sant Kahiye"; the one who gives you peace (relief) , is a true saint and person of God. To poetically sum up my testimony to his surgical skill, I penned an Urdu 'sher'! "Dekhta hoon asmaan ki taraf Toh har sitara ubhartaa hai Sooraj ki talaash mein kabhi Asmaan zameen par utartaa hai" (When I gaze at the sky, the stars shine with the light of my vision. My vision's brightness overshadows even the sun, that the sky descends to earth in search of it !)
