I visited TESS about one and half year ago to request for an eye swab test that I was asked to do by my functional nutritionist due to prolonged eye infections. This test doesn’t seem to be done commonly everywhere so I had to procure the swab material from a hospital lab myself. Dr. Nikunj Shah said something along the lines that eye swab test is not needed because by the time the swab reaches for testing the bacteria might not even show up in report. He gave me a medicine and said it might take moths to heal. When I asked if the medicines are steroids (due to history of steroid meds not suiting me), he VERY RUDELY and AUTHORITATIVELY replied “I’m the doctor not you” and did not even try to understand why I might be asking that question. He also said he could do the test if I still felt like but it’s not needed. Obviously not convinced I told him I would still like to do the eye swab test. He was angry that I did not listen to his advice and still requested the test to be done. The skin around my eyes, due to the prolonged infection was already dry and cracking. Dr. Nikunj was extremely passive aggressive and did not consider being gentle. *His ego was hurt and he kept trying to stand his ground that the swab test is not needed and in anger he opened my eye so roughly to do the swab test that the skin at the corner of the eye tore and I WAS BLEEDING!* Being a spiritual healer, my body sensed a kind of abuse and insensitivity that I cannot forget to this date. And it goes without saying HIS DIAGNOSIS WAS ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT. The swab test results came in perfectly fine (contrary to what he had said) and I was detected with a severe staphylococcus aureus infection! THANKS TO THE SWAB TEST THAT HE DIDNT THINK WAS IMPORTANT but I knew I needed it. Doctors like him need to understand that patients can know their bodies well and KNOW when something is not right! Not only this, he charged me twice (once when I asked if he can do the test and he said no. And second when I was still insisted to do the test and he did it in anger!). Absolutely incorrigible and a nightmare of an experience!
