Rarely, in the world of Mumbai food joints, do you find a place untouched by adulteration and the need for mere visual appeal. Kebab Gunj, a hole in the wall joint, lies in a quiet corner of Colaba, and speaks to its authenticity without the crutches of loud edible colour that we have now gotten so used to when ordering Awadhi or Mughlai items. The flavour is heavenly and the service is commendable. A special thank you to Harprit, who took such special care of us and arranged for us to sit outside to accompany our dogs, and enjoy our meal. We had the chicken seekh and chicken tandoori - both spectacular, and the chicken galawti kebab, that we simply had to order twice, since it was so divine.

Absolutely terrible experience at Kabab Gunj, Colaba. The food was extremely disappointing. The chicken was either not cooked properly or so badly overdone that it felt as hard as a stone. It was dry, tough, and completely unenjoyable. For a place serving kebabs, this is basic — and they failed at it. The seekh kebab was even more shocking. It tasted exactly like a packaged, pre-cooked Zorabian seekh kebab — nothing fresh, nothing special, nothing that felt made in-house. It honestly felt like something taken out of a packet, reheated, and served. That’s not what you expect when you go out for kebabs. The service was just as bad. There was only one staff member managing everything, and he was constantly running back and forth handling Zomato delivery orders. As dine-in customers, we were barely attended to. He kept coming and going, but we received no proper service or attention. I genuinely felt invisible sitting there. Overall, a completely disappointing experience — poor food quality and worse service. If you’re a true kebab lover like me, this is definitely not the place for you. Save your time and money and go somewhere that actually values its customers.
