Over rated restaurant simply as it's in advantageous location and quite old. Famous for its thali but we called a la carte this time. Chole Bhature.... Bhatures were actually Maida Puris. Size also small. Daal Dhokli- Little better but Dhokli was totally mashed. Vegetable Au Gratin was better if the lot.

If youโre craving the best aamras puri in Mumbai, this little gem in Churchgate is my absolute go-to. Just a couple of minutesโ walk from Marine Drive, the location itself is a treatโespecially with that beautiful stroll by the sea before or after your meal. The aamras here is hands down one of the best in the cityโfresh, rich, and perfectly sweet. Paired with hot puris, itโs pure comfort on a plate. The rest of the food is equally good, making it a solid spot for a satisfying meal. Prices are decent, the service is quick, and everything feels clean and well-maintained. Simple, satisfying, and consistently goodโthis place never disappoints.

Had a great experience at Samrat Veg Restaurant. Their amras puri is the star: the amras had a rich, smooth consistency and paired perfectly with hot, fluffy puris. They also serve bhaji on the side, which elevates the whole meal and makes it even more satisfying. We also tried the chole bhature, and it definitely lived up to expectations: flavourful, indulgent, and well-prepared. The ambience is spacious and comfortable, making it a good spot for both quick meals and relaxed dining plans. Overall, a solid place in South Mumbai if you're craving a wholesome, classic veg meal. Located near churchgate metro station this is a well known vegetarian restaurant frequented by office goers as well as family groups. Currently this is probably the only restaurant in the area. (Shortly the well known Bengaluru based Cafe Rameshwaram is scheduled to open, but it is expected to be a full south Indian) this restaurant is known for its Gujarati dishes and the popular one is the thali. It's unlimited with a large number of items, the preparation and taste is good. The waiters are smartly dressed and present a good service. Visited this restaurant many times. Apart from thali have tried their biryani which tastes good. Nice atmosphere where one can enjoy food. Weekends and holidays will have wait time. There is a small waiting area outside. There are paid parking (roadside) on the CCI ( cricket club of India) and other nearby roads which I suggest to be used as traffic police crane regularly makes rounds in this area. There is a bakery just outside, which is again popular for pastries chocolates and others bakery items.

One of the best places to come for a Thali Lunch. Not sure about the other items on the menu budgeting by the taste of everything we had on the thali. I'm sure their other menu items would also be equally tasty. This is a pure veg restaurant and they do not serve any non veg or alcohol. There is wale parking available so it's ok if you travel here by your own vehicle. The valley parking is chargeable though. The ambience and seating and staff are really good. If you go during peak hours you may have to wait to get a table so it is always better to go a little early. Very close to the Aqua line Churchgate Metro Station so it is very easily accessible even by foot. The pricing for the thali is extremely reasonable for this part of the city and I guess you will get your best value for money if you order the thali. They have clean washrooms here too.
