Stepping into Gaylord feels like travelling back in time with its vintage charm, elegant interiors, and aesthetic ambience. The place has a classic old world vibe and attracts a lovely mix of locals and foreign visitors, making the experience even more special. We tried the Assorted Vegetable Tandoor Platter, which was flavourful and perfectly grilled. The Mushroom Cheese Lasagna was rich, creamy, and absolutely comforting. To end on a sweet note, the Crème Brûlée was beautifully caramelized and simply delightful. The food, ambience, and hospitality together make Gaylord a wonderful spot for a relaxed meal at Marine Drive. A 70-year-old iconic establishment of South Bombay, it has long been at the center of fine dining for stars and socialites alike. It was frequently patronized by the likes of Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, and many cricketers. Recently renovated, you step into a regal experience - complete with uniformed waitstaff, European Art Deco accents, and live music. The menu offers a unique mix of Indian dishes, a few European selections, and non-alcoholic beverages. Unique, because an ambience like this almost demands a glass of wine - something you sorely miss as piano renditions of old and new Bollywood compositions play on. The food is excellent, the service could be better, but the experience is a must-have. One that transports you back to the charm of old Bombay.

I visited this iconic spot near Marine Lines and honestly, the ambience itself sets the mood. Loved the seating and the service. What we tried: Summer Breeze 4.5⭐ Quattro Formaggi 5⭐ The pasta was the highlight as it was runny, rich and sauce. The portion size would be easily filling for two. The mocktail could’ve been sweeter, but still enjoyable. Make a reservation if you’re planning to go on weekends or during peak dinner hours, it gets busy. Overall, I would rate a 5/5. Definitely going back to explore more on the menu.
