Farhan Akhtar, born 9 January 1974 in Mumbai, is a multi-hyphenate filmmaker, actor, singer and producer, son of celebrated lyricist Javed Akhtar and screenwriter Honey Irani.
Born and raised in Mumbai, Farhan lives in Bandra West, the same area where his Excel Entertainment studio is headquartered.
He made a landmark directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai (2001), reshaping youth-centric Hindi cinema, and later transitioned into acclaimed acting, most notably as Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
